In today’s crowded online space, building a brand that truly stands out isn’t just a luxury—it’s a necessity. If you’re an aspiring mum- CEO looking to carve out your place in the market, having a clear, compelling brand is what will set you apart from the rest. Trust me! I've been there, getting lost in the sea of other people doing the same as you (or so it feels)  But how do you create a brand that not only grabs attention but also builds trust and attracts the right clients?

Here’s how you can develop a strong and authentic business brand right from the start:

Start off by Defining Your Brand Identity

Your brand is more than just a logo or a pretty color palette—it’s the heart and soul of your business. So, start by asking yourself:

  • What are my core values? And how can I integrate these into my business?

  • What mission do I want my business to fulfill?

  • How do I want my audience to feel when they interact with my business?

By clarifying these elements, you create a sturdy foundation for a brand that truly reflects who you are and what you stand for. Because let's face it - as service based business owners and coaches we are our brand.

Get Clear on Who You Serve

You can’t create a brand that resonates if you don’t know who you’re speaking to. Take the time to research and understand your ideal client:

  • What are their biggest struggles?

  • What are their biggest obstacles?

  • What dreams and desires do they have?

  • How does your business solve their problems?

  • What are their values and beliefs? And how can you speak to them?

When your messaging speaks directly to your audience’s needs, they’ll feel an instant connection with your brand. People connect with people that are most like them or that are interested in what they are interested in, so show them that you know them.

Think About Your Brand Associations

Next, you want to think about your associations—what do you want your audience to think when they see you? What do you want them to associate your brand with?

For example; when you think of Disney you may think nostalgia, fun, escape. Or when you think of Chanel you think expensive, classy, abundance.

So, take a moment to consider what you want to be associated with and how you can represent this in your brand.

This is where you define your brand’s personality—think of your business as a person. Is it fun and playful, serious and professional, or warm and nurturing? The clearer you are on your identity, the more your brand will feel cohesive and authentic. AND the more people will gravitate toward you.

Create a Compelling Brand Message

This sounds intimidating but it's really not. Your brand message is your business voice. It should be clear, concise, and powerful. This includes:

  • A strong ‘I help’ statement that explains exactly how you help your client get from A to B

  • A tagline or slogan that encapsulates your mission

  • Consistent language and tone that aligns with your brand’s personality - For Example,  If you have a potty mouth and that's how you feel comfortable talking, you're not going to want to be all prim and proper because that's just not you and that will come across in your content. You will magnetize your people an

  • Your Story. You want your audience to know why they should trust you and how better to do this than to tell them why you chose to do what you do and how you got to where you are. There is so much authority and authenticity in personal experiences so figure out how you can't attract your audience by telling your story.

Every touchpoint—from your website to social media—should communicate your brand message consistently.

Then and Only Then You Can Develop a Visual Brand That Reflects Your Business

Now you know who you are and how your business communicates to your ideal client you can then look at your visual brand.  Your brand’s visuals should be instantly recognizable and aligned with your brand’s personality. Key elements include:

  • A Logo (You can do this on Canva.com

  • Color palette - What colours resonate with your audience, if you wanna get really deep you can look up colour psychology and link your values to your palette (take a look at coolors.co to have a play around with complementing colour patterns)

  • Fonts - Try and look at 3 different types of fonts for your branding - one Script font (Fancy) , one Display font (Bold)  and a Minimalistic font (Simple)

  • Photography- You don't have to fork out thousands for a photographer in the beginning, all you need is a decent phone camera, a tripod and a clicker. Get used to being in front of the camera, wear a few pieces of clothing in your brand colours and look on Pinterest to find some photos you can recreate in the comfort of your own home. If you don't have a very ‘aesthetic’ home - find a plain wall!

Consistency is key! Whether someone lands on your Instagram page, website, or an email from you, your branding should be cohesive and professional.

Establish Yourself as an Authority

People buy from those they trust. Establish yourself as an expert in your field by:

  • Creating valuable and educational content

  • Engaging with your audience regularly

  • Sharing client testimonials and success stories

By positioning yourself as a trusted authority, your brand will naturally attract the right clients who are ready to invest in what you offer.
