Lets face it, being a mum in business is hard.

You’re working long hours, barely coming up for air, you’re juggling a thousand things wondering when you’ll finally get chance to put them down and rest your arms.

Your laptop has turned into your best friend and the last conversation you had was with your two-year-old about Bluey and to be honest, it really didn’t feel like they were as invested as you.

mum in business

You see other female entrepreneurs living their best lives on social media as you sit there looking dishevelled eating ben and jerry’s ice cream out of the pot with a spoon. (‘you’ Is me; I am she)

All the long hours and setbacks have really got you questioning why you started your business in the first place. You’re missing the connection and support from your old coworkers but still long to be working from home surrounded by the people you love the most. So, what needs to change?

You need business besties.

When we start our businesses the likely hood of having friends that have built businesses is slim. Many of us only see Femme-preneurs on the socials and whilst we are starting our chapter one, they are on chapter 15 so the thought of reaching out to them feels super daunting.

But its that connection we are looking for, we are looking for someone to talk to about our business that understands the struggles we are going through and helps encourage us through the slumps. We’ve all been there, trying to explain our amazing idea to our partner or family members only to have them stare back at us with no idea what we’re on about.

Having that business bestie who has been through or is going through all the rubbish we’re dealing with is invaluable.

So, this is your sign to find that tribe of powerhouse women.

And, finding your tribe is more than just networking, it’s …

Support

It’s that necessary pick me up when your sat up at 3am trying to figure out SEO's for your website. Having someone there going through exactly what you’re going through, giving you that encouragement and confidence boost may just be the difference you need to get up and carry on. You’re also able to support them and help them build a fantastic life for themselves too. Win win.

Insights – Sharing business knowledge.

We don’t know what we don’t know and until we come up again something that sets us back there’s always that piece of missing information we may need to fill. Having a tribe of businesswomen at different stages of their entrepreneurial journey can give you the most amazing insight into what you can expect in the future. You can learn together, develop yourselves and your businesses, test out parts of your business on them and receive constructive feedback that allows you to refine and rebuild.

Opportunity and collaboration

Jim Rohn's says 'You’re the average of the 5 people you spend the most time with,' if you’re spending your time with powerhouse female Mum-preneurs then you’re likely to open more doors and opportunities for you and your business. You can collaborate with them and help grow both your following's, you can guest expert on their podcasts, Instagram lives or Facebook groups. Opportunities that may not be right for their business could be passed to you and vice versa, they can give you referrals for businesses or clients they’ve worked with in the past.

Accountability

Last but by any means not least, they can be there for you when you feel like giving up. You can keep each other motivated and help push through that blasted procrastination. You don’t have to do it alone!

So, you understand the importance of finding your tribe and business besties. The question is, how?

You could join a mastermind, Facebook group or group coaching program. You could go to local female business meet ups or networking events. With social media it is easy to find that tribe of people who love what you love and do what you do. Put yourself out there and take advantage of opportunities because the next person you meet might end up being the Dean to your Tony.

And this is the exact reason I decided to build The Mum-CEO Facebook group. It’s a group of like-minded mum-preneurs striving to build their businesses whilst lifting each other up, sharing their wins and keeping each other accountable. And on top of that, there is weekly mindset and business trainings and guest experts, and I will be in there answering any questions you have helping you stay on track and motivated in business. Go and find your tribe, mum-CEO.
